The Windows Media Player is the well-known media player which comes with the Windows OS and is used for playing most multimedia files and various streaming media protocols.
Windows Media Player 3 is a series of 16-bit media player produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, released on 1991. The series began with Windows 3.0 with Multimedia Extension, which was first published during April 1991 as a successor to outdated Windows 2.x.
